Go to lindy.ai and sign up. Free tier: one agent, 10 minutes of calling credit, enough for this lesson with change.

On the dashboard click + New Lindy. You'll see a template library. Pick Phone Agent → Blank. We want to feel the minimum viable setup before using prebuilts.

Three fields to fill out. Name: `First Contact`. Role description: `You are a friendly coffee shop owner named Sam who is calling to confirm a 3pm espresso tasting appointment.` First message: `Hey! It's Sam from Roast & Toast. Just calling to confirm your espresso tasting at 3pm today — are we still on?`

Under voice settings, pick Ruby (an American friendly voice) or click through and preview a few. Lindy uses ElevenLabs under the hood — these voices are not the old robotic Siri. They pause. They emphasize. They laugh.

Click Test Call. A dialog pops up asking for your phone number. Enter yours. Hit Call Me.

In about 8 seconds your phone rings. Pick it up. 'Hey! It's Sam from Roast & Toast...'
